Re: AFH Adjustment Successes
Even though I usually set it for jumps of 0x10, I tend to jump by 0x20 for the first couple of attempts. It doesn't always works, especially with the Rosewood series drives. I always save to ROM and repower to test. At the end of the day, a head swap usually works when AFH adjustments don't. I actu...

Re: AFH Adjustment Successes
AFH-Zone-Original.PNG Drive Model: ST2000LM007-1R8174 Using PC3000 DE, was able to get most 3 of 4 heads imaged, but head 2 was hanging up getting mostly read errors. Made a few AFH adjustments usingn MRT Ultra and turned an ETA of > 161 days to image 222.7GB into a job that was done within 10 hour...

Re: SSD Model, Controller, Issues and Recoverability
I'm having several Kingston with the 88SS1074. Full ID in universal utility and DE but all ABR errors in read. I have the latest version of PC3K SSD and support (16-5-2023). Roman said to try with cold or hot temp. I've certainly had some success with SSDs that seem to be firmware related, yet unre...

Re: WD30EZRZ-00GXCB0-SED Locked
What are you clicking on in that screen? Unlock SED HDD The problem was SED (firmware) and not ROM locked. I already solved it by blocking access to SA and then loading the loader. By the log it looked like the locked ROM of the new SMR drives. I forgot to say thanks to Tim for his extended hint

WD30EZRZ-00GXCB0-SED Locked
I am handling this drive (WD30EZRZ-00GXCB0) PCB: 800055, and when I apply the patch I get the message that the ROM is already unlocked.
The drive get DRD DSC and full ID.
See screenshot attached.
I have PC3K version 7.1.6. Maybe it is not supported?
Thanks for any hint

Re: Seagate Rosewood Families, Headmaps and Preamps
They read but did not write. In a nutshell you have to go by trial and error, so the more drives you have in stock the better. Basically if you have to order on the net (apart from Donor Drives) it's like going in blind. I am finding this too. It is most infuriating to change the heads, read full S...

Re: Seagate Rosewood Families, Headmaps and Preamps
In the end it seems to me there is no rule in finding a donor capable of writing. In one case I tried 3 donors WDZ, same P/N, same FW only the preamp was 82 instead of the patient's C2 (but we saw that C2 and 82 are interchangeable). They read but did not write. In a nutshell you have to go by trial...
