Re: Western Digital MyPassport Ultra vs EasyStore
Likely the only differences might be the cache size and whether or not the encryption is enabled in the firmware. Besides that, no differences in these drives.
Re: Western Digital MyPassport Ultra vs EasyStore
As they are all the same model of drive, I doubt that there are any differences in cache. With this model, I'm sure that all are SED enabled.
I'm thinking that software like backup and smartware may not exist on all three models, but can't see what else could be different.

I wonder how old these two drives are. I am assuming these are two units that you have in from customers that could be a few years old that you are doing recoveries on. Are they both still using blues then is the question?
Re: Western Digital MyPassport Ultra vs EasyStore
The oldest drive is the clients which is still not even a year old...DEC 17, the other 2 are APR 2018 and MAY 2018
Re: Western Digital MyPassport Ultra vs EasyStore
I suppose it isn't much different than Seagate buying LaCie so that they can put the same crappy drive into a different enclosure and charge more for it because Apple users trust marketing too much.
Re: Western Digital MyPassport Ultra vs EasyStore
The good news is that we have had great results recovering the data from these drives.
