Takes too long to open file tree!

Post by lcoughey »

When it comes to loading large file structures, particularly EXT and HFS+, it can take a couple of hours just to get it loaded on R-Studio. Even with healthy file structures, it can take forever, if the system doesn't crash before it finishes loading.

This is where UFS/R-Explorer will kill R-Studio every time. R-Studio, for some reason, is set to assume that the drive we are reading is failing and not a clone, thus it wants to load the entire tree into memory. Meanwhile, UFS/R-Explorer assumes that the user is working with a clone, as all professionals should be, and just loads the file tree as it needs.

With my updated USB driver, it is a little better, but still way too slow and resource hungry. This is only HFS+. It is 100 times worse with EXT and XFS.

Opening file tree for EXT4 over SATA interface, do you think this is still a bit slow?
