Does anyone actually understand why platters need to be aligned with respect to each other?
What is the purpose of an embedded servo if not to obviate the necessity for head-to-head alignment?

How 'misaligned' were the platters?

They were both removed to search for missing head sliders and nothing was done to try to align them back. Remove and put again. So I think pretty "misaligned" hehehe
