Charging for Parts Saves Clients Money

Post by lcoughey »

Since changing over to a pricing model that charges for parts, we have noticed that our clients are saving money. Here are a couple of examples:

Example 1:
Old price - $1400
New price - $700 + $150 (parts) = $850
Savings - $550

Example 2:
Old price - $1400
New price - $700 + $400 (parts) = $1100
Savings - $300

Yes, in the cases where data is not recoverable, the client is out the cost of the parts. But, it is because they are sharing the risk that we are able to offer such competitive rates.

Yes, I think this system of billing is only fair. Especially with the Seagate DM models running up the parts costs on some recoveries, it keeps everyone else from having to offset those outrageous prices. Just a shame if you're one of those Seagate DM hard drive owners.
