Samsung eMMC NAND

Post by lcoughey »

We just got our first Samsung eMMC NAND from a 32GB USB thumb drive. Up to this point, none of the flash recovery tools have an adapter that supports it, but it looks like at least one company, RUSOLUT has one in the works.

I sent one of these up to Arvika in Poland for recovery. Apparently he as a custom solution for these already.

Just an update to this thread, these apparently are built to the same basic specifications as an SD card so they are much easier to recover from than a typical NAND or other flash memory. The controller is built into the chip so all you need is a reader like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/eMMC-eMCP-test- ... SwMNxXafHM

The downside is that if the internal controller fails you're pretty much stuck. Unless you want to go monolithic recovery on it.
