So the spiderboard can be good for monolithic ones that have large pads but for everything else it is much more useful to solder, will they improve it? or will they get rid of it?

I suspect that they will just leave it as is.
Datalabs (Instagram) came up with their version of a spider board for those who like to use wires rather than the needles.
