I got a WD Elements 10B8 1012
My friend connected it to android phone and did a format on it.
How do I recover and revert the format to the old partition ?

You can scan the drive the demo of R-Studio. If it finds your files, save them to another drive, if not, you might need the assistance of a data recovery pro.

Will testdisk work to recover the partition lost and get back the drive as it was before ?

It might, but i wouldn't try it without a ful sector-by-sector copy of the drive.
