This drive arrived clicking. We attempted to reprogram several donor PCBs, but that did not resolve the issues. So, we performed a head change, taking a chance on what we hoped to be a suitable matching donor from our in-house parts supply.
Patient: WD400BD-60LTA0, 22 Jun 2005, DSBHCTJCH, H0
Donor: WD800BD-22LRA0, 07 May 2006, DSBANTJAA, H0,1
Change the heads and mirrored all but 17 sectors, affecting only 1 non-critical file.
Fully recovered in less than 24 hours for $700CAD.
