Data Recovery Lab Sticker Labels

We frequently get data recovery jobs that were previously at other data recovery labs for second opinions. While not all labs are open to communication with each other, it can prove helpful to try to reach out to get answers to questions that customers don't always have. In some cases, it is just to see if they may have a backup copy of the ROM and/or firmware and in other cases, we are trying to find out the full story of what was done prior to our receiving the drive.

Anyway, here are some images of labels. If you know the lab in question, feel free to let me know so that I can update the list and if you have more to added, feel free to post in the comments and I will update the list as they come in.

Does this problem arise because the client has taken their drive to a place like Geek Squad who then send it away to an undisclosed DR shop? Otherwise it would be just a matter of asking the client ...

On some rare occassions, end customers don't even want to admit that the drive was at another lab previously. However, the majority of the time, it is because they took it to computer shop XYZ or even a friend who sent it off to an undisclosed location.

I have a case here now where I'm awaiting on my client to find out from the person he is representing who previously worked on their drive. The seagate ROM from a newer digitally signed Rosewookd is completely filled with 0xFF. As I cannot see how an end user or every day technician could manage this, I am left to think that the other lab is the one who did it. I'm hoping that it was a mistake and that they have a backup copy that they can forward to me. Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to deem this case unrecoverable.

I put the unknowns at the bottom of my list. If you know who they are, let me know so I can edit the post.
