The last unit I had was encrypted with LUKS. The client didn't pay attention to the message to save the key. The only way to recover the data was for me to fix the unit with my clone, load it up in the web interface, make the shares open to me on my network, then copy the files over the network to the new destination drive.

If you have the LUKS passkey, you might be able to recover from the clone using UFS Explorer, too.

I just looked at the link you sent and it seems like they are describing the setup where they use a SQL database to replicate the file system. This, too, is supported with the latest version of UFS Explorer.

Maybe a donor enclosure is the way to go?

The underlying issue on one I encountered was the network settings went stupid. You can hold the reset button down on the NAS long enough for it to reset the network settings back to DHCP...that may be all you need.

As Luke said, a reset or a new enclosure might solve it.
